About the roleAs a Senior Engineering Manager on the Growth team at AllTrails, you will lead a high-impact engineering team focused on helping more people discover value in AllTrails, convert to paid subscriptions, and stay engaged over time. This team sits at the intersection of product, engineering, analytics, design, and experimentation, and plays a critical role in how we grow our member base and business.We’re looking for a thoughtful, technically credible leader who knows how to build healthy, high-performing teams and turn ambiguous product opportunities into durable systems, strong execution, and measurable business results. We will be removing this job post on June 29th to ensure we can review all submissions.What you’ll be doingManage, mentor, and grow a team of talented engineers, creating a high-trust environment with clear expectations, strong accountability, and meaningful career developmentLead the engineering execution for Growth initiatives spanning acquisition, onboarding, activation, conversion, retention, and monetizationPartner closely with Product, Design, Analytics, Marketing, and other engineering teams to define strategy, evaluate tradeoffs, and deliver high-impact experiencesHelp the team plan, prioritize, and execute a roadmap that balances fast iteration with technical quality, scalability, and long-term maintainabilityBuild a strong experimentation culture by partnering on A/B tests, measurement plans, and decision-making rooted in user behavior and business outcomesSupport the development of systems and product surfaces that power upsells, paywalls, purchase flows, entitlements, lifecycle moments, and other Growth-critical experiencesServe as a technical leader for the team by guiding architecture, reviewing technical direction, and helping engineers make sound decisions across a broad set of product and platform concernsHire exceptional talent, coach engineers toward greater scope and impact, and raise the bar on performance, collaboration, and engineering craftAdvocate for code quality, operational excellence, and pragmatic process improvements that increase engineering efficiency, quality, and happinessCollaborate effectively as a distributed team using GitHub, Slack, Zoom, Jira, and Confluence to stay aligned and move work forwardWhat you bring 8+ years of software engineering experience, including time leading teams through complex technical and organizational challenges4+ years of engineering management experience building healthy, high-performing teamsExperience developing iOS apps with Swift or managing teams that do soExperience shipping large-scale product initiatives with multiple cross-functional dependenciesStrong product, analytical, and technical judgment, with experience using experimentation and metrics to inform decisionsTrack record of coaching engineers, managing performance, and building a culture of trust, ownership, and high standardsStrong communication skills and the ability to align stakeholders and navigate ambiguity with confidenceExperience in fast-paced, high-growth environments where prioritization and adaptability matterExperience with modern software development workflows and tools, including GitHub, Jira, and ConfluenceHumility, empathy, curiosity, and a willingness to dive in wherever neededBonus pointsExperience leading Growth, monetization, subscription, onboarding, or exp
