Job Description
Overview Our client is seeking an experienced Care Coordinator to support patient care, scheduling, insurance coordination, and follow-up activities. The ideal candidate will serve as a key point of contact for patients, ensuring a smooth and positive experience while coordinating communication between patients, providers, and insurance companies. This role requires excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The client operates in the behavioral health space and is focused on delivering high-quality patient-centered care. The role will begin as part-time, with strong intent to transition into a full-time position based on performance and operational needs. Key Responsibilities Answer inbound and outbound patient calls professionally
Schedule and coordinate patient appointments and follow-up visits
Verify insurance eligibility and benefits
Assist with prior authorizations and referral coordination
Follow up with patients regarding appointments, treatment plans, and outstanding requirements
Communicate with insurance companies regarding eligibility, coverage, and authorizations
Maintain accurate patient records and documentation within the EMR
Coordinate communication between providers, patients, and external healthcare partners
Ensure HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality at all times
Deliver exceptional customer service and support patient retention
Non-Negotiable Requirements Minimum 2 years of experience in Care Coordination, Patient Services, Medical Scheduling, Insurance Verification, or a related healthcare administrative role
Previous experience working with Illinois-based healthcare practices and insurance plans
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills with a professional phone presence
Strong understanding of healthcare workflows and patient coordination processes
Must have a HIPAA compliance certificate
Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment while maintaining accuracy
Must have a experience with SimplePractice EHR
Preferred Qualifications Experience with referrals and prior authorizations
Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, PPO, HMO, and commercial insurance plans
Experience in urgent care, primary care, or multi-specialty practices
