We are currently a small, distributed team that engages with the entire Engineering organization by maintaining Commerce’s Cloud Development Environment that enables engineers to work faster and to be less encumbered by technical burdens.What You’ll Do:Maintain and improve Commerce’s Cloud Development EnvironmentHelp engineers become more productive, removing environment concerns as an impedimentMaintain Ruby services that orchestrate infrastructureContribute to a new Golang CLI tool developers will use to manage their environmentWork with technologies and tooling such as GCP, Nomad, Consul, Vault, Terraform, Packer, Puppet, and CircleCI to provide an effective development environmentEducate engineers on tool usage and process improvementsProvide support for the development environmentDocument technical aspects and user flows of featuresWork and collaborate with a distributed team across the worldAssist in defining the team’s roadmapWork closely with engineers to gather requirementsCreate and monitor statistics to observe tooling health and functionalityWho You Are:5+ years of professional experience as a Software EngineerA trusted engineer who has completed either a comprehensive software engineering boot camp, CS, CE, SW, MIS or equivalent degree, or has relevant work experienceKnowledge of configuration management systems such as Puppet, Chef, or Ansible (we use Puppet)Experience with Linux systems administration, including solid scripting skills (Ruby) and BashExperience developing/scripting in Ruby or GolangExperience working with modern infrastructure tools and technologiesComfortable exploring and engaging in unfamiliar languages, tools, and technologiesEager to work on difficult problemsAble to contribute to project discovery, design, and implementationComfortable working on several projects in concertDesire to work in a collaborative, open environment on an Agile team as a contributor and mentorHighly proactive and results-oriented with excellent critical thinking skillsWork Where You ThriveFor candidates based in the Austin Metro area, this role follows a hybrid work model, with three days per week in the office to balance focused individual work and meaningful in-person collaboration.(Pay Transparency Range $93,000.00 - 156,000.00)The exact salary will be dependent on the successful candidate’s location, relevant knowledge, skills, and qualifications.Inclusion and BelongingAt Commerce, we believe that celebrating the unique histories, perspectives and abilities of every employee makes a difference for our company, our customers and our community.
