Job Description

Integra Partners is seeking an experienced EDI Technical Lead Engineer to lead the modernization of our healthcare interoperability platform. This is a high-impact role for a hands-on technical leader who can drive the design, development, and delivery of enterprise-scale EDI and FHIR integration solutions supporting our multi-year digital transformation strategy. The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in HIPAA X12 transactions, healthcare integration platforms, and modern API-driven architecture with strong leadership skills to mentor engineers and guide technical direction. This role will be instrumental in evolving our legacy EDI ecosystem into a scalable, cloud-ready interoperability platform that supports both traditional EDI and emerging FHIR based healthcare data exchange. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/SKILLS/ABILITIES Technical LeadershipServe as the technical lead for enterprise healthcare integration initiatives involving:HIPAA X12 transactions (837, 835, 270/271, 276/277, 278)HL7FHIR APIsDefine technical architecture and implementation standards for EDI and interoperability solutions.Lead design reviews and ensure engineering best practices across the integration team.Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers.EDI / FHIR Integration DevelopmentDesign and implement scalable healthcare data exchange solutions using:X12HL7FHIR REST APIsBuild and maintain robust data transformation and mapping workflows.Develop reusable frameworks for:Data validationTranslationError handlingReconciliationIntegrate internal platforms with payers, providers, clearinghouses, and third-party vendors.Platform ModernizationHelp modernize Integra’s EDI platform into:Micro services architectureEvent-driven servicesCloud-native deploymentsSupport migration from traditional batch integrations toward real-time interoperability.Implement observability and monitoring across integration services.DevOps / ReliabilityPartner with SRE and DevOps teams to:Automate deployment pipelinesImprove scalabilityEnhance resiliencyMonitor performance and proactively resolve production issues.Ensure high availability of mission-critical transaction processing systems.Cross-Functional CollaborationWork closely with:Product teamsEngineering teamsBusiness analystsVendor partnersTranslate business requirements into technical solutions.Support production troubleshooting and incident resolution.Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)8+ years of software engineering experience5+ years of healthcare EDI experienceStrong knowledge of:HIPAA X12 transactionsHL7FHIR standardsHands-on experience with programming languages:Java / C# / GoExperience with:REST APIsMicroservicesEvent-driven architectureExperience with:DockerKubernetesCI/CD pipelinesExperience with:SQL / NoSQL databasesPerformance optimizationHigh-volume transaction systemsStrong understanding of:Healthcare interoperabilityData governanceSecurity best practicesPreferred Qualifications: Experience with:Edifecs xEngineXEServerEAMSpecBuilderExperience with:Azure /AWS / Google CloudWorking knowledge of SMART on FHIR, OAuth2, and OpenID ConnectPrior experience leading technical teamsFamiliarity with payer workflows and claims processingWhat will you lean in the first 6 months?
