About the TeamThe Virtual Preparatory Academy of Ohio is a K–10 tuition-free online public school fully accredited by the Ohio Department of Education. We offer a tailored educational experience that fits the specific needs of each learner, combining a robust curriculum with the support of dedicated teachers to help students excel in a safe, virtual setting.We are seeking a highly qualified School Counselor who is dedicated to fostering the social, emotional, and academic development of every student! At ACCEL Schools, we leverage a cutting-edge 21st-century support framework, delivering comprehensive counseling services through innovative online platforms and traditional outreach methods to ensure no student navigates their journey alone.The School Counselor supports overall student success by partnering with staff members and families to inform student specific academic programming, create and maintain graduation and career plans, and provide proactive and preventative services.Eligibility: Open to residents in OhioAbout the OpportunityDeliver proactive guidance curriculum to individuals and groupsRespond to individual and group needs with responsive counseling and programmingReview transfer student transcripts and inform appropriate course placementsMaintain and review transcripts for active students and inform credit award proceduresCreate and maintain student graduation plansProvide career readiness curriculum and facilitate creation of career plansDeliver Social-Emotional Learning curriculumCreate and maintain Student 504 plansAnalyze student data to provide input on appropriate academic programs and interventionsTravels to support testing efforts and school events within the state as neededOther duties as assignedAbout YouBilingual strongly preferredValid State Counselor license Bachelor’s degree plus one (1) year previous experience in counseling and/or advisement OR equivalent combination of education and experience Experience with the ASCA model Experience with K-12 online learning Experience with Local, State, and Federal laws and mandated reporting Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite ProductsAbility to handle confidential information responsibly and exhibit sound judgment while maintaining that confidentialityAbility to manage difficult or emotional situations and make evidence-based decisionsExcellent written and oral communication skillsAbility to work well under pressure, effectively prioritizing and executing tasks to meet deadlines consistentlyCustomer service orientedAbility to work independently and contribute to a teamAbility to pass federal and state criminal background checksAbout Us“We believe that every child should be able to be anything they want in life, regardless of their birthplace and circumstances.” – Ron Packard, CEO & FounderACCEL Schools is a network of 80+ high-performing, public charter schools serving PK-12 students. The annual starting salary for this position is between $43,000.00-$51,000.00 annually.
