Job Description

This is a remote position.Virtual Rockstar is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Virtual Assistant to join our partner’s multidisciplinary therapy team based in Maryland. This role is fully remote but requires full-time commitment during U.S. Eastern Time business hours. You will be an integral part of a collaborative care team, supporting Occupational Therapy (OT), Speech-Language Pathology (SLP), and psychological services.ResponsibilitiesYou will work closely with front office and billing staff to ensure a smooth patient experience, accurate scheduling, and proper insurance handling. Responsibilities include:Patient & Administrative SupportRespond to patient inquiries via phone and emailMaintain accurate patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulationsEnsure patient privacy and confidentiality at all timesAssist in pre-visit organization, ensuring all paperwork and insurance requirements are complete prior to schedulingInsurance & Billing SupportVerify patient insurance coverageObtain pre-authorizations for proceduresUpdate patient files with accurate insurance informationLiaise with insurance providers to clarify coverage and benefitsTrack and follow up on pending claims and denialsResolve billing discrepancies promptlyTeam CollaborationCoordinate with the in-house front desk and billing team to ensure scheduling and billing accuracySupport therapists and administrative staff in managing daily workflows RequirementsExperience in medical administration, preferably in PT/OT/SLP or behavioral health settingsStrong understanding of insurance verification, authorizations, and claims follow-upProficiency with healthcare software and insurance portals (e.g., Prompt, Availity, CareFirst, NaviNet, Humana Military)Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple prioritiesReliable internet connection and a quiet, professional remote workspace​Non-NegotiablesProven experience with insurance benefits verificationProven experience obtaining and managing prior authorizationsExperience following up on insurance denials and claim issuesStrong phone skills and confidence handling both inbound and outbound patient callsHigh attention to detail and commitment to accuracy​ BenefitsCompetitive salary commensurate with experience.Opportunities for professional development and growth.Work in a dynamic and supportive team environment.Make a meaningful impact by helping to build and strengthen families across the Globe Originally posted on Himalayas
