Job Description SummaryConsulting Services, a part of GE Vernova, has offices in multiple countries and offers global clients (external & GE Vernova verticals) a wide range of solutions across the entire spectrum of power generation, delivery, and utilization. Consulting Services at GE Vernova is a team that has comprehensive global experience in power system studies including in-depth experience in analyzing shunt and series compensations including application of SVCs, FACTS, HVDC, synchronous condensers, STATCOMs, and power plant and transmission system dynamic controls. Our global team has professional experience with leading power system simulation and analysis software tools like Positive Sequence Load Flow (PSLF) software and Multi-Area Production Simulation
(MAPS) software, as well as PSS/E, PowerFactory, PSCAD, EMTP, ASPEN, ETAP, other commercial application tools, and many specialized in-house tools. Our team also has deep experience with voltage control and reactive planning issues as well as the tools and procedures that are most effective in studying them. We perform detailed steady state, voltage and transient stability studies of regional transmission systems, generation interconnections, and renewable generation impacts, as well as specialized studies for sub-synchronous resonance, and torsional and control interactions.Job DescriptionRole Summary/Purpose
As a member of the Consulting Services Grid Integration and Stability (GIS) practice area, the selected candidate will be an active contributor to the GE Vernova business initiatives related to power systems and power electronics equipment and services to support energy transition.Essential Responsibilities:Perform technical analysis related to power electronic and power systems control of renewable generation, battery energy storage systems, large industrial drives,and FACTS. Supportcustomerswith power systems engineering expertise; includingmodeling, analysis, equipmentdesignandspecification, and failure mode analysis.Create, modify,and parametrize simulation models representing GE Vernova inverter-based resources (IBR) products like wind turbines, solar and battery storage. Evaluate grid code compliance and impact of renewable projects in bulk power systems.Support development of transmission and distribution connected IBR and distributed energy resource (DER) products for evolving codes and standards through participation in industry standards groups.Perform power systemtransientstudies, anddetailed equipment modelingusing appropriate softwaretools.Develop technical understanding of electrical characteristics of GEV’s power electronic generation and transmission products and their integration to electrical grids.Effectively communicate results to both internal and external customers by preparingdetailedwritten reportsorpresentations describing analyses performed, solutions developed, and customer value propositions.Enhance industry knowledge and present technical content in regional forums and conferences; serve as a thought leader in industry activities.Actively participate in a working environment where teamwork, quality, customer service and innovation are prized.Qualifications/Requirements:Master’s degree in electrical engineering or electric power engineering or related field of study and minimum three (3) years of industry experience performing transient analysis using simulation tools like PSCAD/EMTDC and EMTP and steady state and dynamic analysis using large data base simulation tools like PSS/E, PowerFactory, PSLF and DSATools i.e., PSAT, TSAT and SSAT.Three (3) years of industry experience with the use and application of common programming languages (e.g. Python, MATLAB, FORTRAN).OR Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering, electric power engineering, or related field of study – no industry experience is required with this qualification.Strong background in power system analysis.
