About this roleWe are looking for a Principal Service Reliability Engineer to be responsible for the reliability, scalability, security, and performance of our cloud-based platforms across pre‑production and production environments.This role is a senior individual contributor position focused on technical leadership, architectural influence, and reliability strategy. You will partner across engineering, product, and platform teams to design and operate highly resilient systems while setting the standard for Service Reliability Engineering practices across the organization.As a healthcare technology company, Prescryptive not only meets HIPAA requirements but strives to exceed them through proactive infrastructure design, automation, monitoring, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate is a deep technical expert who excels at influencing without authority, leading through expertise and driving reliability at scale.What you will doTechnical Leadership & ReliabilityDefine and evolve build and deployment pipelines for secure, reliable production releasesLead the design and operation of pre‑production and production cloud infrastructure to ensure high availability, performance, and securityPartner with Engineering teams to improve release flow from development to test and productionDefine and implement monitoring, alerting, and incident response practicesLead complex troubleshooting efforts, root cause analysis, and drive systemic post‑incident improvementsEvaluate, recommend, and implement new infrastructure technologies and servicesEnsure platforms meet or exceed healthcare security and compliance standardsEstablish and drive adoption of SRE best practices (SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, reliability engineering standards)Cross-Team Leadership & InfluenceServe as a technical leader and advisor across Service Reliability, DevOps, and engineering teamsMentor engineers through design reviews, knowledge sharing, and guidance on best practicesInfluence system design and architectural decisions to improve scalability and resiliencyPartner with teams to prioritize reliability initiatives and reduce operational riskContribute to defining engineering standards, best practices, and operational runbooksFoster a culture of ownership, accountability, reliability, and continuous improvementRequired skills, abilities, and educationBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Security, or equivalent practical experience8+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering rolesDeep expertise in managing cloud-based infrastructure, preferably in AzureStrong experience with Kubernetes, including:Cluster setup, networking, access control, and authorizationDeployments, services, config maps, secrets, and cronjobsDesigning, deploying, and maintaining service mesh infrastructureStrong experience with GitHub Actions and CI/CD pipelinesExperience supporting production environments and high‑availability systemsFamiliarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum, sprints, backlogs)Experience managing certificates, secrets, and monitoring systemsStrong collaboration skills across a large, evolving engineering organizationDemonstrated ability to lead complex technical initiatives across multiple teamsBias toward action with a focus on continuous improvementTechnical Experience Areas:Cloud InfrastructureLoad balancers, VNets, DNS, network firewallsAPI ManagementService BusStorage accountsAutomation functionsVirtual Machines, scale sets, and Azure Virtual DesktopsActive Directory and domain servicesMonitoring and alerting systemsSecret and key managementPlatform & DataKubernetes clusters and container registrieskubectl and container operationsRedisSQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDBPreferred skills, abilities, and educationExperience operating at a Principal, Staff, or senior technical leadership levelExperience in healthcare or HIPAA-regulated environmentsExperience designing and scaling SRE practices (SLOs, observability, incident management)Track record of improving reliability, performance, or operational maturity at scaleStrong communication and stakeholder management skillsDemonstrated ability to mentor and influence engineers without direct authorityCuriosity and willingness to learn and adopt new technologiesWhat we have to offerThe opportunity to grow alongside an early-stage company shaking up a big, old-fashioned industryFlexible time off, including 12 paid holidays401k match plus 100% employer paid medical, dental, and vision premiumsCompany contribution to Health Savings AccountStock optionsPrescryptive is committed to fair pay practices.
