References from supervising lecturers or Course Coordinators are preferred.Lyceum College is seeking qualified and experienced Tutor/Markers to support the academic team in the marking of assessments and portfolios for the module Foundations of Critical Thinking and Digital Proficiency. This module is delivered college-wide to first-year students in distance mode and is designed to develop critical thinking, digital literacy, academic writing, and the responsible use of technology, including artificial intelligence.Successful candidates will work on a part-time, contractual basis and will be responsible for the fair, timely, and constructive assessment of student work in accordance with Lyceum College’s academic standards, approved marking rubrics, and quality assurance requirements. This is a marking-only role. Tutor/Markers are not required to deliver lectures or facilitate student contact sessions.Module ContextThe module is structured across five units and is assessed through three instruments:Assessment InstrumentApplication-Based Assignment -30%-Units 1 – 4Multiple Choice Assignment -30%- Units 1 – 2Summative Examination -40%- Units 1 – 5The five units cover: Introduction to Critical Thinking and Digital Proficiency; Logical Reasoning and Argument Analysis; Digital Literacy and Online Research; Ethical Considerations and Cybersecurity; and Application of Critical Thinking in the Digital Age.Key Responsibilities1. Assessment MarkingMark Application-Based Assignments and/or examination scripts in accordance with approved rubrics and marking guidelines.Provide written feedback that is constructive, specific, and clearly linked to the assessment criteria and module learning outcomes.Apply marking criteria consistently across all student work, including relevance and accuracy of content; quality of analysis and synthesis; depth of critical thinking; creativity and originality; academic writing quality; adherence to instructions; and appropriate engagement with digital tools and concepts.2. Quality Assurance and ModerationAdhere to Lyceum College’s institutional quality assurance standards throughout the marking process.Participate in pre-marking calibration and post-marking moderation sessions as required.Implement moderation feedback and adjust marking accordingly where directed by the Course Coordinator.3. Record-Keeping and ReportingMaintain accurate, complete records of marks awarded and feedback comments for each student script or portfolio.Submit mark sheets and marked scripts within agreed deadlines, using Lyceum College’s designated systems.Report suspected academic misconduct, including plagiarism or collusion, to the Course Coordinator promptly and in accordance with institutional policy.4. Professional ConductMaintain strict confidentiality of student assessment information at all times.Engage professionally and responsively with the Course Coordinator regarding queries on assessment criteria or marking decisions.Adhere to all institutional policies, including the Academic Integrity Policy, Assessment Policy, and Code of Conduct for Independent Contractors.
RequirementsMinimum RequirementsA Bachelor’s degree with Honours, or a postgraduate qualification (Master’s preferred), in Education, Philosophy, Critical Thinking, ICT in Education, Digital Literacy, Information Science, Communication, in the liberal Arts or a closely related field.Demonstrable experience in teaching, tutoring, or academic support in higher education, with particular relevance to academic literacy, critical thinking, argumentation, or digital proficiency.Proven experience marking undergraduate academic assignments, with the ability to apply rubrics consistently and provide constructive written feedback.Sound working knowledge of critical thinking frameworks, including Bloom’s Taxonomy, the Paul-Elder Framework, and logical argumentation models.Familiarity with digital literacy concepts, including information evaluation, responsible digital citizenship, cybersecurity fundamentals, and the ethical use of AI in academic contexts.Strong written communication skills, with high standards of accuracy, professionalism, and attention to detail.Ability to work independently, manage personal workload effectively, and meet strict marking deadlines without ongoing supervision.Desirable AttributesExperience in distance or blended learning environments, with an understanding of the academic challenges faced by distance learners.Familiarity wi
