Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Billing Specialist with a strong background in urgent care or high-volume outpatient settings. This role requires hands-on expertise in the full revenue cycle, accurate coding, and efficient claims management. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and ensures timely reimbursements while maintaining compliance with payer guidelines.RequirementsKey Responsibilities Manage the full medical billing cycle, including charge entry, claims submission, payment posting, and denial management Review, identify, and resolve denied or rejected claims; resubmit accurately and promptly Perform insurance verification, eligibility checks, and prior authorizations Ensure accurate use of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes specific to urgent care services Conduct A/R follow-ups and work aging reports to ensure timely collections Review documentation for accuracy and compliance with payer requirements Communicate with insurance providers regarding claims, discrepancies, and reimbursements Maintain detailed tracking and reporting using Excel or Google Sheets Handle high claim volumes while maintaining accuracy and efficiency Required Qualifications (Non-Negotiable) Minimum 1–2 years of medical billing experience in urgent care or high-volume outpatient settings Strong working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding (urgent care-focused) Proven experience in end-to-end medical billing / revenue cycle management Hands-on experience with Athena EHR Strong understanding of payer guidelines (Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance) High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills Strong English communication skills (written and verbal) Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environmentPreferred Qualifications Experience with VOIP systems (e.g., Gracetel) Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets for reporting and tracking Work Setup & Expectations Fully remote role Must have reliable internet and a professional work-from-home setup Ability to meet productivity and accuracy targets consistently Originally posted on Himalayas
