Our 98,000 employees operate a network of 2,650 offices and laboratories, working together to enable a better, safer and more interconnected world.Job DescriptionThis position is responsible for the administration, supervision and monitoring of the global Quality Management System in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 and Minerals Technical Governance Global policies and procedures for all Mineral Geochemistry laboratories with support to Trade laboratories as required. The incumbent is also responsible for monitoring the laboratory network and promoting laboratory best practice(s), instilling a culture of continuous improvement within the regions and laboratory network. The incumbent will also lead and direct a small virtual team of Quality and Continuous Improvement specialists.Global QMS ResponsibilitiesAdministrates and reviews the global Quality Assurance and Quality Control process to ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 including the design and administration of systems and tools associated with data acceptance & rejection criteria.Work with Laboratory managers and OI teams to ensure that Minerals Laboratories implement safe working practices in accordance with global proccedures (OIMS) and Industry recognised standards.Maintains and updates central quality control and global lab methodology documentation control (electronically and hardcopy) including SLIM / G6 schemes and manage configurations.Provide laboratory support for CCLAS EL / G6 setup, method validation, data acceptance and data rejection, QMS design and best practices to ensure labs adhere to global standards.Developing, Distributing & Monitoring new Quality Policies and Proceedures as neededIdentify and approve Performance Testing Programs that the Group’s laboratories will participate inMonitor and oversee laboratory responses back to global PT program providers.Client Related SupportLiaises with regional and local Quality Systems Managers, Operations Managers, Technical Managers and Client Services personnel in response to customer quality complaints and claims.Troubleshoot analytical issues as required and coordinate specialist support to address identified problems (e.g. ICP, XRF, FA...)Laboratory Audit ResponsibilitiesMonitor and use LQSI, Geostats and other PT programs data to identify problems / Improvement trends and highlight laboratories that require further investigation audits and support.Utilise remote SLIM / G6 access to monitor and identify quality issues in the laboratory network.Schedules, directs and performs internal audits and as necessary to an approved audit schedule (may involve follow-up and detailed site investigation.)Laboratory Best Practice and Improvement ResponsibilitiesWorks with the Group’s senior technical personnel to continuously improve lab products and services.Coordinates with the Group’s Technology Transfer Managers and Global Technical Expert peers to schedule new laboratory and/or new methodology start-ups as well as to assist with the validation of new laboratories and/or new methodologies/analytical technologiesQualificationsEducation – post secondary at the Bachelor levelTertiary qualifications in chemistryGreater than ten (10) years industry experienceCompletion of Courses in Laboratory Auditing or AccreditationExperience in quality systemsFluency in English is a prerequisite and fluency in additional languages a definite assetDemonstrated skills in analytical methodologiesEffective communication and interpersonal skills and able to coordinate with teams and motivate others.Must be creative, innovative and client-focusedAble to build trust, respect and confidentialityProven time management skills.Works well under pressure.Ability to work well with others & independently.Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and be proficient in using various types of computer software (Word, Excel.
