**Location:** Bozeman, MT (Remote or Hybrid Considered)

**Job Summary**
Rental Professionals is seeking a detail\-oriented, proactive **Bookkeeper with extensive property management accounting experience and advanced knowledge of AppFolio Property Manager** to join our team on a contract or part\-time basis.
This position is ideal for someone who not only excels at property management bookkeeping but also has a deep understanding of the accounting side of AppFolio and enjoys sharing that knowledge with others. We are looking for an experienced professional who can assist with day\-to\-day accounting functions, answer questions, review processes, and provide one\-on\-one guidance and training on AppFolio accounting features, reports, and best practices.
Your expertise will help ensure accurate financial records, improve efficiencies, and support our accounting team in maximizing the capabilities of AppFolio.
**Duties \& Responsibilities**
* Maintain accurate financial records using AppFolio Accounting, including:
* Journal entries
* General ledger maintenance
* Account reconciliations
* Trust accounting
* Process accounts payable and accounts receivable accurately and efficiently.
* Perform bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations.
* Review owner statements, tenant ledgers, security deposit accounting, and property financials.
* Assist with payroll processing, including calculations, deductions, and timely submissions.
* Prepare financial reports, including:
* Income Statements
* Balance Sheets
* Cash Flow Statements
* Assist with budgeting and financial analysis.
* Support tax preparation by organizing financial records and maintaining compliance with accounting standards.
* Answer AppFolio accounting questions and troubleshoot accounting issues.
* Provide one\-on\-one AppFolio accounting training and guidance for office staff.
* Review current accounting workflows and recommend best practices and process improvements.
* Help interpret AppFolio reports and ensure accounting procedures are being utilized correctly.
**Qualifications**
* Proven bookkeeping or accounting experience within the property management or real estate industry.
* **Strong hands\-on experience with AppFolio Property Manager Accounting is required.**
* Ability to confidently train others on AppFolio accounting functions.
* Experience with owner accounting, trust accounting, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting.
* Knowledge of double\-entry accounting, journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger accounting.
* Experience with payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month\-end/year\-end procedures.
* Familiarity with GAAP accounting standards; governmental accounting knowledge is a plus.
* Experience with QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage, or similar accounting software is helpful.
