Job Description
CITY OF GALLATIN
NOTE: This is a temporary position and is not eligible for City benefits. Work schedule will be Monday to Friday, anywhere from 2\-6 hours per day within the 7:30am \- 4:30pm window. Employment period is August 2026\. Onsite only, no remote work.
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The purpose of this position is to perform intermediate administrative and technical work in the processing of accounts payables and finance records for the Finance Department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all\-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
1\. Processes, prepares and audits weekly accounts payables; assists with the preparation and maintenance of computerized cash, budget and accounting records.
2\. Collects, sorts and compiles fiscal data for various monthly, quarterly and annual reports in accordance with procedures.
3\. Posts invoices for payment, balances monthly vendor statements.
4\. Posts, checks, balances and adjusts financial accounts through computer terminal.
5\. Files various fiscal transaction documents.
6\. Runs month to date account analysis reports.
7\. Assists with the fixed assets and depreciation schedules.
8\. Performs related tasks as required and cross\-trains to cover other department positions when necessary.
9\. Performs related tasks as required.
10\. Regular and predictable attendance.
11\. Ability to work in a cooperative manner with others.
12\. Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* High School Diploma/GED.
* Associates degree in accounting or related field preferred.
* Must have a minimum of three (3\) years’ recent and full time experience in bookkeeping or accounting experience.
* Must be bondable.
* Must have a valid driver’s license.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
* Ability to read technical information, compile information, and develop reports from that.
* Ability to read technical information, budgets, and insurance documents.
* Must have intermediate knowledge of Word, Excel, and other software assigned by the City.
* Ability to make decisions to accomplish specific tasks and operations within the scope of the position.
* Knowledge of entry level current accounting principles and procedures.
* Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and calculate percentages, fractions, and decimals
* Ability to make complex arithmetical computations accurately and rapidly.
* Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures and the ability to implement them, including the operation of the copy machine, calculator, fax machine, computer, telephone system, and voice mail system rapidly and accurately.
* Ability to type neatly and accurately from clean copy, utilizing information management systems.
