Job Description

Nova 401(k) Associates, a certified great place to work, is hiring an Accounting Manager. Nova 401(k) Associates is a third-party administrator for 401(k) plans headquartered in Houston, Texas. Nova 401(k) Associates and its sister companies are quickly growing and largely recession-proof. Our Accounting Manager will supervise two professionals and will be responsible for ensuring that timely monthly financial reports are prepared for three companies. The Accounting Manager position is currently our highest accounting position, so we are looking for an individual who can run an accounting department without constant supervision, deal with shareholders and the board, and possibly be promoted to controller in the future.Responsibilities:Develop and document accounting proceduresSupervise, train, and mentor accounting team on all accounting functionsMonitor and ensure timely payment of invoices by staffReview and perform general ledger account analysis and reconciliations (research and correct discrepancies as appropriate)For primary smaller company, maintain books on a cash basisFor one smaller company, apply GAAP Principles to develop and maintain appropriate accounting accuracy and controlsCollaborate with technology department and management to automate accounting processes where feasibleComplete, in a timely manner, month-end and year-end financial statement close including journal entry preparation and balance sheet reconciliationsWork in a shared service model for several related companiesWork collaboratively with revenue/invoicing departmentWork collaboratively with tax and compliance departmentsPerform other related job duties as assignedChampion company values, policies, and initiativesCoordinate without accountants as necessaryDirect additional accounting department responsibilities such as:Property & casualty renewalsWorker’s Compensation auditProperty tax renditionsProcessing 1099’sVendor Management policy and annual vendor reviewsQualifications:Degree in accounting at undergraduate or graduate level15 + years of accounting experience (multi-entity preferred)CPA preferredStrong understanding of cash and accrual accountingExperience with QuickBooks Online and/or IntuitExperience reviewing work of junior staffSupervisory experience (experience supervising remote staff a plus)Experience in developing and maintaining proceduresExperience in small to mid-sized professional services firms (such as law firms, accounting firms, etc.) a plusExcellent written and oral communication skillsExperience with S-corporations a plusExperience with ChargeOver (or other SAAS billing), and Bill.com a plusCompensation and Benefits:Base Salary $120,000-$150,000Salaried, exemptMedical, dental, disability, and life insurancePaid time off401(k) plan with employer matchWork Location/Hours:Work from homeMust work from USA and be authorized to work for any US employerWe will supply all necessary computer equipment37.5 hour work week We get it.
