Senior Substation Civil Structural Engineer

We have offices in Atlanta GA, Columbus OH, Jackson MI, Orlando FLWe are looking for a senior Substation Civil/Structural Engineer with expertise in electrical substations design. This role involves managing project designs, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring compliance with industry standards while collaborating with clients and internal teams.Responsibilities:Technical Design and AnalysisThe successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of civil design for substations, including structural analysis, steel design and detailing, foundation design, bus stress analysis, oil containment design, substation equipment review, support of substation physical design and equipment layout, interface with site development design team, and some permitting involvement.General understanding of substation layouts, configurations and major equipmentAssist with development and reviews of equipment specifications and to ensure compliance with industry standards.Project ManagementClient facing role. Hosting internal and client meetings where necessary.Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources effectively. Leading designers in development of drawing package, or developing from full markup where needed.Participating in all aspects of project status tracking: scope, RFIs, additional services tracking, reporting status to a PM.Provide technical support during constructionTrain, develop and mentor junior engineers and oversee their project contributions.Documentation and CompliancePrepare detailed engineering scope documents and cost/time estimates.Ensure all designs adhere to safety regulations and construction design codes.Maintain accurate records of design modifications and project documentation.Collaboration and CommunicationCoordinate with clients, contractors, and internal teams to ensure project requirements are met.Candidate will primarily function as a senior engineer performing design reviews on a regular basis, as well as developing junior staff members, and contributing to bids and proposal developmentParticipate Provide input and at times lead stakeholder meetings to discuss project progress and challenges.Quality AssuranceReview design packages for correctness, constructability and compliance with client & internal standards.Conduct inspections and troubleshooting during project implementation.Ensure that field modifications do not compromise design integrity.Qualifications:PE registrationBachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program required.5+ Years Overseeing technical aspects of substation projects and client facingFamiliarity with electrical substation equipmentKnowledge of steel detailingKnowledge of Inventor or other BIM softwareBuilding design experienceKnowledge of Design Codes: ASCE 113ASCE 7-10AISC 360ACI 318 and other ACIFamiliarity with NESCFamiliarity with IEEE standardsOriginally posted on Himalayas
