Travel required as needed for supplier visits, audits, and business reviews.Position SummaryThe Electro-Mechanical Commodity Manager is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies, supplier performance management, and cost/risk roadmaps for electro-mechanical commodities supporting production and new product introduction (NPI). Typical scope may include connectors, cable assemblies, wire harnesses, electromechanical assemblies, sensors, relays/contactors, switches, thermal components (fans, heatsinks), insulation materials, and selected power/electrical subassemblies (based on business needs). This role partners closely with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Planning, and Finance to ensure supply continuity, competitive total cost, and robust quality. High-voltage product experience (e.g., insulation systems, creepage/clearance considerations, dielectric testing, HV interconnect, safety/regulatory constraints) is strongly preferred but not mandatory.Key ResponsibilitiesCategory Strategy & Sourcing ExecutionDevelop and execute commodity strategies aligned with business objectives for cost, quality, delivery, and risk.Lead RFI/RFQ/RFP events, supplier selection, and sourcing recommendations using structured decision models.Negotiate commercial terms including pricing, lead time, MOQ/MPQ, tooling, payment terms, NCNR exposure, warranties, and liability.Establish and manage Long-Term Agreements (LTAs) and supplier pricing governance (indexing/escalators where appropriate).Supplier Relationship & Performance ManagementOwn supplier scorecards and business reviews (OTD, quality/PPM, responsiveness, cost, and continuous improvement).Partner with Quality and Engineering to drive corrective actions (8D/CAPA), audit closure, and process capability improvements.Proactively manage supplier risk: capacity constraints, financial stability, single-source exposure, geopolitical/logistics risk, and BCP readiness.Engineering Collaboration & Technical AlignmentPartner with Engineering to drive standardization, modularity, and approved alternates (AVL/AML), including documentation governance.Support NPI by ensuring supplier readiness, DFM/DFT feedback, prototype-to-production transitions, and qualification timing.Drive specification alignment and “design to supply” practices (availability, manufacturability, and lifecycle stability).Cost, Value Engineering (VE), and TCO ImprovementDeliver year-over-year cost improvement through VA/VE, should-cost analysis, supplier consolidation, redesign suggestions, and process improvements.Optimize total cost of ownership including logistics, packaging, yield, warranty, and change management costs.Lifecycle & Change ControlManage supplier-driven changes (PCN/ECO), obsolescence, and end-of-life transitions, including last-time-buys and redesign triggers.Ensure controlled qualification of alternates and substitutions while protecting quality and compliance.Planning/Execution Support (as needed by org design)Work with Planning and Operations to align supplier capacity to demand, reduce shortages, and improve lead time reliability.Support escalation management for critical shortages and line-down risks with structured recovery plans.Compliance & GovernanceEnsure compliance with procurement policies and relevant standards: RoHS/REACH, supplier code of conduct, and trade compliance requirements.Maintain accurate sourcing documentation for audit readiness (contracts, supplier files, risk assessments, and savings tracking).High Voltage Experience (Preferred) — Example RelevanceCandidates with HV background may bring value in areas such as:Sourcing and qualifying HV connectors, HV cable assemblies, insulation systems, potting/encapsulation, dielectric materials, creepage/clearance constraints, and safety-related components.Working with requirements tied to dielectric withstand, part
