Job Description

**About us** Blue Cloud CPA is an accounting and tax firm licensed in both the United States and Canada. Our clients live, work and run businesses on both sides of the border: people moving between the two countries, families with accounts in both, and companies expanding north or south. We run on documented workflows and a lot of automation, and we're growing. **The role** You prepare individual and business returns where the tax picture crosses the border, and you catch what doesn't add up before it reaches review. The work includes: * US individual returns for people with foreign income, foreign accounts and foreign tax credits (1040, 1040\-NR, FBAR, 8938, 1116, 2555\) * US business returns (1120, 1120\-S, 1065\) and the international forms that come with foreign owners or foreign subsidiaries * Canadian returns (T1, T2\) and the cross\-border pieces that tie the two together, for the right person * Working from client documents in TaxDome, keying in Drake, and tying every number back to source * Writing clear notes on what you found, what you assumed and what you need from the client **Who does well here** * 3\+ years preparing US returns at a CPA or tax firm, individual and business * Hands\-on experience with at least some of the international forms above; Canadian returns are a strong plus * You'd rather ask a question than guess, and you say what you don't know * Clear written English and comfortable working async * Full time and long term Nice to have: EA or CPA, Drake Tax, TaxDome, experience with people moving between the US and Canada. **How to apply** Apply with a resume and answer the three application questions. Applications without answers won't be considered. Job Types: Full\-time, Contract Application Question(s): * Walk us through the most complicated cross\-border or international return you've prepared. What made it hard? * You're working a return and one number doesn't make sense, the deadline is tomorrow and the reviewer is out. What do you do? * What's your availability, and are you looking for full time work with one firm? Work Location: Remote
