Remote Educational ASL Interpreter – Wyoming School District (2026–2027 School Year)MIYO Health is seeking a fully remote Educational American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter to support a high school student attending a Wyoming school district during the 2026–2027 school year.This position involves providing real-time virtual interpretation services for one 9th-grade student throughout the school day, helping ensure full access to instruction, classroom participation, and school activities in accordance with the student's IEP and educational needs.Position DetailsPosition Type: Remote, School-Year ContractStart Date:August 18, 2026Student Caseload:1 studentGrade Level:9th GradeSchedule:Monday–Thursday: 8:00 AM – 3:25 PM Mountain TimeFriday: 8:00 AM – 1:25 PM Mountain TimeConsistent weekly hours throughout the academic yearAll services provided remotely using district-approved technology platformsResponsibilitiesProvide accurate and effective sign language interpretation for classroom instruction and school-related activities.Facilitate communication between the student, educators, staff, and peers while maintaining interpreter neutrality.Collaborate with educational staff to support student access and participation.Attend virtual team meetings or IEP meetings as needed.Maintain confidentiality and comply with FERPA and professional ethical standards.RequirementsRequired QualificationsFluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English.Experience providing interpreting services in K–12 educational settings preferred.Strong understanding of educational interpreting practices and the role of the interpreter in schools.Ability to work independently in a remote environment with reliable high-speed internet and appropriate technology.Wyoming Educational Interpreter RequirementsTo provide educational interpreting services in Wyoming schools, candidates must meet Wyoming Department of Education requirements, including:Hold a Wyoming Educational Sign Language Interpreter Permit or be eligible to obtain one prior to the start of employment.Meet one of the following credential requirements:Hold a national interpreting certification (e.g., RID), orHave an Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or higher (ASL, MCE, or PSE), orHave completed an accredited Interpreter Preparation Program (ITP) with an institutional recommendation.Candidates who do not currently hold Wyoming credentials but meet eligibility requirements may be supported through the Wyoming licensure process.Preferred QualificationsPrior experience interpreting for secondary students in virtual or hybrid learning environments.Knowledge of educational terminology and high school coursework.Experience working with video remote interpreting platforms.BenefitsWhat We Offer:Competitive compensationLicensing reimbursement support (when applicable)Professional support and training opportunitiesClinical and administrative supportA mission-driven team that values your work and expertiseIf you're passionate about increasing educational access for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students and are looking for a consistent, fully remote opportunity with a manageable caseload, we'd love to connect with you!Originally posted on Himalayas
