Fellow, Technology and InnovationR Street InstituteWashington, D.C.The R Street Institute—a free-market think tank headquartered in Washington, D.C. and with staff located across the country—seeks a collaborative individual to focus on technology policy research and analysis on cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technology issues. If you are the right fit, you will report to the Senior Director of Technology and Innovation Policy. If you want to join a mission-driven organization and work toward pragmatic policy solutions, this may be the opportunity for you!Your typical day at R Street may include collaborating with other fellows on the Technology and Innovation team to produce written research, analysis, and commentary on issues related to cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and/or other emerging technology topics. In addition to writing, you may produce multimedia content, participate in panel discussions, and/or briefings for a variety of stakeholders. This role will serve as part of the Technology and Innovation policy department. Other Aspects of Your RoleConduct policy-relevant research on cybersecurity issues including data protection, critical infrastructure security, and post-quantum cryptographySupport research initiatives on artificial intelligence policy, including safety, governance, and regulatory frameworksEngage with additional technology policy areas as program needs evolveProduce written publications including issue briefs, blog posts, and policy memosAssist Senior Fellows with major policy papers, regulatory comments, and testimony preparationProvide timely analysis of breaking developments across the technology policy landscapeRemain vigilant against ninja infiltrationsSkills and QualificationsNo particular educational background required—a proven record of achieving results is far more meaningful than credentialsPrior experience in a think tank or policy organization preferred but not requiredAbility to work productively with a wide range of groups and individuals, including those with whom you may disagreeExperience collaborating across teams, with an appreciation of others’ expertise and experienceSuperior interpersonal skills and a strong team orientationStrong writing skillsExcellent attention to detail and an ability to manage competing interests and prioritiesSupport for R Street’s passion for free markets and limited, effective governmentA sense of humor and a desire to grow within a multifaceted organizationR Street Institute consistently offers pragmatic, real solutions that foster American innovation, bolster competition, and safeguard individual liberty–all with the understanding that life in a democratic society sometimes requires compromises that don’t necessarily represent first, best solutions. This is a full-time position that can either work the majority of the week in our D.C. office or be fully remote. Occasional travel may be required for events and conferences.Compensation, Benefits, and PerksR Street strives to offer a compensation and benefits package that is competitive, transparent, and supportive of employee well-being. The salary range for this position is $80,000–$90,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
