ClickSend is a global company, part of the Sinch Group with a strong foothold in Australia/NZ, USA/Canada and UK/Europe, but is used, and loved, by businesses all around the world.As a Senior Backend Engineer, you’ll join one of our product engineering squads and help ClickSend build our exciting new modern messaging platform. As a Senior Engineer, you’ll provide deep technical leadership within and beyond your team, ensuring and growing the teams to deliver high quality solutions to our customers continuously and rapidly.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide technical leadership and direction to enable the team to ship secure, reliable, well-tested, and maintainable code to our customersTake initiative to mentor and upskill colleagues through constructive feedback during code reviews, architectural decisions, and non-functional concerns including security, privacy, and performanceHelp drive the direction and priorities of the team, actively seeking ways to better support stakeholders and break down work effectivelyRecognised as a leader and clear expert in technical areas and components owned by the teamBe a strong role model who demonstrates collaboration, accountability, and technical excellenceLead end-to-end delivery of work — from technical design and architecture through to production deployment and supportIndependently architect and deliver complex, scalable solutions across a wide variety of situationsChampion quality within the team and establish processes to improve it over timeThe successful applicant will possess the following skills and attributesMinimum 7 years of software engineering experience with a proven track record of shipping and maintaining production softwareAt least 3 years of recent, hands-on experience with NodeJS and TypeScriptStrong knowledge of backend ecosystems including SQL/NoSQL databases, messaging brokers (e.g., SQS, RabbitMQ), and common software design patternsProven AWS expertise across core services including ECS/Fargate, Lambda, EC2 DynamoDB/RDS/Aurora, SQS/SNS/Kinesis etcHands-on experience architecting end-to-end systems — translating business requirements into full technical designs covering API design, data models, and infrastructureExperience designing and operating microservices and event-driven architectures built for scalability, resilience, and high performanceDeep testing knowledge across unit, integration, and E2E testing with hands-on experience building and maintaining automated test suites integrated into CI/CDSecurity-first mindset with experience building secure services and implementing best practices for observability and maintainabilityActively leverages AI-powered tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT) to improve productivity and accelerate developmentPassionate about mentoring engineers and communicating complex technical ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersCollaborative, positive, and approachable — someone who adds to a "win together" team cultureExcellent verbal and written English communication skillsWe dream big — for our company, our customers, and our employees — and we hire the best talent worldwide to help us bring our vision to life.
