The GL Team Leader is responsible for managing a tenured staff resolving GL coverage, risk transfer, liability and damages in compliance with corporate claim settlement policies and procedures.Responsibilities: Leading 7– 8 General Liability Litigation Claim Handlers with corresponding claim inventoriesEffectively training, coaching and developing staff to enable optimal job performance and the achievement of individual and professional goalsManaging and directing claim investigation, liability determinations, disposition and settlement, in compliance with corporate claim settlement policies and proceduresManaging and implementing change including explaining drivers and business goalsEvaluating and managing staff performanceA technical resource for 7-8 General Liability Litigation Claim HandlersUnderstand and effectively analyze General Liability and or personal lines coverage formsExperience in leading and managing all levels of staff relative to experience, tenure and professional developmentExtensive knowledge of customer service drivers and the ability to resolve customer issues, needs and concerns independentlyExperience with human resource policies and procedures and administration of the sameStrong communication skills, both verbal and written regardless of audience demographicAbility to partner with internal and external customers inclusive of Agents, Brokers, Sales and ProductQualifications:Prior high exposure general liability claims, and litigation experience strongly preferred.Knowledge of contracts and contractual indemnificationMore than a basic understanding of coverage and risk transfer heading toward the development of a strong coverage acumenCollege degree preferredPrior management experience strongly preferredConsistent high level of performance and achievement over career spanCPCU, AIC, SCLA or other professional designation, or working toward such designation preferredAdditional Information:This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement.  Candidates who live near one of our office locations (Hartford, CT, San Antonio, TX, Scottsdale, AZ, Lake Mary, FL, Naperville, IL and Alpharetta, GA) will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.The GL Litigation Team Leader reports to the Western General Liability & Auto Litigation Claim Center.For full-time, remote positions: (1) high speed broadband internet service is required, we do not recommend or support DSL, wireless, WIFI, Hotspots, Fiber without a modem and Satellite; (2) Internet provider supplied modem/router/gateway is hardwired to the Hartford issued computer with an ethernet cable; and (3) minimum upload/download speeds of 5Mbps/30Mbps will be required. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
