Join EY and help to build a better working world.Senior Consultant – Climate Change and Sustainability ServicesThe opportunityAs our Senior Consultant, you’ll join the Climate Change and Sustainability Services team. The EY Climate Change and Sustainability Services team is the biggest sustainability consulting team in Oceania. Our multidisciplinary teams help companies understand the risks and opportunities arising from climate change and sustainability issues, advising a large proportion of the ASX 200 to help them drive performance beyond their bottom line. Our team works across the full spectrum of sustainability and climate change issues, including environmental, social and governance (“ESG”) strategy, outcomes measurement, climate risk and decarbonisation, human rights and modern slavery through advisory and assurance engagements. This role is open to all locations around Australia. Our roles can potentially be adjusted to work flexibly with reduced hours. Please speak with us about potential options.Your key responsibilitiesWork as part of a multidisciplinary team across a range of industries, assisting organisations on how they manage and report on a broad range of sustainability and climate related risks and impactsAssurance of non-financial reporting, including sustainability metrics, emissions and energy reporting across a range of industry sectorsContribute to strategy, solutions, methodologies, analytical frameworks and tools to help clients succeed and navigate complex regulatory environments and manage stakeholder expectationsAssist clients to develop and implement sustainability strategies, develop targets, and implement plans to enhance sustainability value for a broad range of sustainability topics, including diversity, waste, modern slavery and environmental impactsAnalyse effects of water, air quality and climate change towards organisations and communities, including ensuring integrity of environmental data as well as understanding climate risks and opportunities, in order to formulate short-and long-term management objectivesSkills and attributes for successTertiary qualification, such as in engineering, science, economics or accounting Experience in climate change services (either in professional services, industry or government)Experience in financial or non-financial audit (either in professional services, industry or government)Ability to work independently across multiple engagements with overlapping deadlinesAgility to learn and adapt on the job, ask the right questions and strive for the best solutions for clients Demonstrable experience in and passion for reporting and/or assurance of greenhouse gas emissionsIdeally, you’ll also have the skills and attributes below but don’t worry if you don’t tick all the boxes. We’re interested in your aptitude, attitude and willingness to learn. Professional services/consulting experience Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and codes of practice as well as a good understanding of the climate-related issuesPractical experience with energy and emissions reporting schemes including National Greenhouse Emissions Reporting (NGER) scheme, the Safeguard Mechanism and the Australian Carbon Credit Unit (ACCU) Scheme.Climate risk assessment and disclosure experience, including knowledge of the Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosure (TCFD) FrameworkKnowledge of key assurance standards including General Audit and Assurance Procedures (GAAP), International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) and the associated Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards (ASRS)Knowledge of, and experience in decarbonisation approaches, climate risk and climate strategy.What we offer youAt EY, we’ll fuel you and your extraordinary talents in a diverse and inclusive culture of globally connected teams.
