Job SummaryAretum is seeking a skilled and highly motivated Technical Lead / Solutions Architect. As a Technical Lead / Solutions Architect, you will own end-to-end architecture, integration strategy, and alignment with VA enterprise standards.Due to the nature of our work as a federal consulting organization, employees may be expected to handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and must adhere to applicable safeguarding and compliance requirements. ResponsibilitiesDefine VAEC-aligned architecture (networking, containers, integration, security zones)Lead integration across VistA, Cerner, CDW, and APIsOversee data flow design, system boundaries, and interoperability patternsGuide ATO boundary definition and control inheritance strategyProvide technical leadership across all engineersRequirementsCloud Architecture: AWS (VPC, ECS/EKS, IAM, ELB, CloudWatch), multi-account strategyContainerization: Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift fundamentalsHealthcare Interoperability: FHIR R4, CDS Hooks, SMART on FHIR, HL7 awarenessEnterprise Integration Patterns: API gateway design, event-driven architecture, batch vs real-time tradeoffsData Architecture: Data flow modeling, schema design, data lineage, normalization strategiesSecurity Architecture: Zero Trust concepts, network segmentation, encryption strategies, RBACRMF Awareness: NIST 800-53, ATO boundary definition, control inheritance modelsDevSecOps: CI/CD pipelines, artifact promotion, environment separationPerformance & Scalability: Stateless services, horizontal scaling, high availability patternsStakeholder Communication: Ability to translate architecture to VA stakeholders and cliniciansTravel RequirementsThis is a remote position; however, occasional travel may be required based on project needs, client meetings, team collaboration events, or training sessions.
