You will work one\-on\-one with the student over video calls, helping them build confidence, understand core concepts, and keep up with their coursework. You should be comfortable explaining algebra fundamentals clearly, adapting to the student’s pace, and keeping sessions engaging. This role is ideal for a tutor who wants a small, flexible caseload — and who is excited about using AI tools to prepare practice problems and explanations while knowing when to slow down and verify. **Responsibilities** * Tutor a 9th\-grade student in Algebra 1 concepts over video calls. * Explain topics such as linear equations, inequalities, functions, graphing, and polynomials. * Prepare practice problems and review materials tailored to the student’s needs. * Assess the student’s progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly. * Communicate regularly with the family on progress and areas for improvement. * Use AI tools to generate practice problems, step\-by\-step explanations, and study guides. * Maintain a consistent schedule and join sessions on time. * Track session notes and homework completion in shared documents. * Help the student prepare for quizzes, tests, and final exams. * Stay current with Algebra 1 curriculum standards. **Job Qualifications** **Required:** * 1–2 years of tutoring or teaching experience in math. * Strong knowledge of Algebra 1 concepts and high school math curriculum. * Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to explain concepts clearly. * Patience and ability to work with a high school student at their own pace. * Reliable internet connection and a quiet, professional environment for video sessions. * Comfortable using Zoom or Google Meet and shared documents. * Experience using at least one AI tool (ChatGPT, Copilot, or similar) for lesson prep or problem generation. * Ability to work independently in a remote, async\-friendly environment. **Nice to Have:** * Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field. * Prior experience with standardized test prep (SAT, ACT, or state assessments). * Familiarity with online tutoring platforms and digital whiteboard tools. * Experience working with students who need extra support or confidence building. * Exposure to Google Workspace, Notion, or other collaboration tools.
