You’re empowered to succeed, encouraged to grow, and the work you do helps run what runs the world.Under the direction of the Drives Service Manager, a Field Service Technician provides technical onsite and offsite support and expertise in response to a variety of site work requests. Requests can include but are not limited to commissioning, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and other technical problems encountered by users of ABB drives and systems. Field Service Technicians work hand in hand with Field Operations and Management to provide successful outcomes for both internal and external customers.Work Schedule: Hourly, 40 hours a week, overtime eligibleThe work model for the role is: Remote {This role is contributing to the Motion Service division in the US.You will be mainly accountable for:Perform installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and repair of ABB of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs.)Carry out preparatory work regarding spare parts, testing of tools and equipment, and documentation as required.Submit detailed, and comprehensive service reports in a timely manner and follow up when needed.Coordinate activities with related groups to most efficiently achieve objectives to ensure customer satisfaction.Communicate effectively and present information to top management, customers, vendors, and other employees of the organization. Participate proactively in contributing feedback regarding product quality issues to reduce warranty costs.Requirements:Associate degree in technical field and 3 years of relevant experience or High school diploma/GED and 5 years of relevant experience or military education/experience requiredValid driver’s licenseAuthorization to work in the United StatesAbility to communicate with all levels in the organization, from field technicians to senior management. Ability read, write, and speak English.Ability to travel 70% of time.Preferred:Experience with Medium Voltage drives and power electronicsKnowledge of motors, transformers, switchgear, and industrial communication protocolsAbility to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and technical documentationPrevious Field Service experienceWork Environment & Physical RequirementsYou will work in a dynamic industrial setting where no two days are the same. This role involves hands-on interaction with advanced equipment and may include working at heights, in varying weather conditions, and around energized systems.
