Job Description
SMIT Proposal Operations is seeking a Business Systems & AI Solutions Intern to support proposal development as part of the US Navy SMIT Growth Team. This role provides end-to-end tools and systems support across the proposal lifecycle, from initial solution definition through SLIN development, BOE creation, pricing, and final proposal artifacts.This intern will work directly with proposal leadership and cross-functional teams to enhance and integrate internal tools, streamline workflows, and leverage AI to reuse historical proposal data and perform consistency checks across technical and pricing outputs. The successful candidate will help ensure proposal tools and processes are executable, efficient, and aligned across all proposal inputs and deliverables.Primary Responsibilities:Enhance and integrate proposal tools using Microsoft Excel, automation and AIStreamline the program specific Basis of Estimate template to better align with corporate BOEMaintain and enhance internally developed tools in Microsoft ExcelDevelop or support tools that analyze historical BOE data to identify similar or analogous tasksSupport development of concepts of operations (CONOPS) and associated processesConduct targeted research on technical services to support solution developmentWork with pricing, engineering, contracts, and capture teams to ensure proposed solutions are executable and deliverableBasic Qualifications:Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Analytics, Information Systems, or a related fieldStrong Excel skills, including advanced formulas and macrosExperience with JavaScript, Visual Basic/VBA, and/or PythonStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to multi-task, self-assign work, and operate in a fast-paced proposal environmentStrong written and verbal communication skillsCandidates must be US citizens able to obtain and/or maintain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance as a condition of employmentPreferred Qualifications:Experience with BOE development, proposal pricing, or government contracting environmentsExperience applying AI or generative AI tools to business or analytical problemsFamiliarity with Salesforce, Power BI, SharePoint, or similar platformsExperience working with automation tools, data repositories, or legacy systemsAbility to remain upbeat, positive, and constructive under high-pressure deadlinesIf you're looking for comfort, keep scrolling.
