Job Description

Role OverviewThe Port Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of facility vehicles and equipment, including forklifts, cars, trucks, engines, motors, pneumatic systems, conveyors, hydraulics, and related machinery. This role also provides maintenance and repair support for fishing vessels on site, as needed.What You Will DoMaintain and repair a wide range of automotive, marine, hydraulic, and industrial equipment, inspect gas, diesel, hydraulic, and electrical systems, and perform repairs as required.Why It Might Be a FitThe ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of operating, maintaining, and repairing gas and diesel engines, ability to read and interpret repair manuals and technical documentation, and effective verbal and written communication skills.RequirementsMinimum of three (3) years of experience as a Port Engineer or Rolling Stock MechanicStrong knowledge of operating, maintaining, and repairing gas and diesel enginesAbility to read and interpret repair manuals and technical documentationValid U.S. driver’s licenseExperience with extended boom forklifts and cranesGeneral metal fabrication and welding skillsWorking knowledge of basic hydraulicsExperience with Caterpillar generator sets (Cat Gensets)Effective verbal and written communication skillsIntermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilitiesBenefitsTransportation from designated travel hubs to the worksite and return transportation for employees who complete the seasonRoom and board for employees who remain employed through seasonal layoffBiweekly payrollDirect deposit encouraged; paper checks available upon requestOriginally posted on Himalayas
